Death Note 2: The Last Name on DVD Feb 10th!

Photobucket
VIZ Pictures, an affiliate of VIZ Media, LLC that focuses on Japanese live-action film distribution, has announced the highly anticipated DVD release of DEATH NOTE II: THE LAST NAME, based on the hit supernatural action mystery manga and animated series. The DVD will feature both the original Japanese dialogue with English subtitles and the English dubbed version by the outstanding voice cast of the animated series. The Red Hot Chili Peppers again contribute the theme song. Bonus features include a special segment, “Making of DEATH NOTE II” and the original Japanese theatrical trailer. The DVD will carry a suggested retail price of $24.92 and will be distributed in North America by VIZ Media. The estimated street date for DEATH NOTE II: THE LAST NAME is February 10, 2009.

DEATH NOTE II: THE LAST NAME is the sequel to the phenomenal hit live-action movie DEATH NOTE, based on the hit manga series written by Tsugumi Ohba and illustrated by Takeshi Obata. The DEATH NOTE live-action DVD, released in September 2008, was ranked as #1 in Japanese Films in North America and #34 in the Live-Action category. As the sequel of DEATH NOTE and once again directed by the renowned monster filmmaker Shusuke Kaneko, DEATH NOTE II: THE LAST NAME concludes the titanic battle between the two geniuses Light and L.

The story picks up with Light Yagami (Tatsuya Fujiwara) joining the investigation team in pursuit of the serial killer known as ‘Kira’. While L (Kenichi Matsuyama) still strongly suspects that Light is ‘Kira’, Light continues to seek out the real name of L so that he can kill him with his Death Note. Making things even more unpredictable is the ‘Eyes of Death’ that the second Kira possesses, enabling the owner to know the true identity and lifespan of any person. Light Yagami soon learns the identity of the other Kira and wants to join forces to get rid of L. Will L be able to catch “Kira” before he gets killed? Who will be the last name written in the Death Note?

Well I know. But you can go ahead and buy this if you must, but I am definitely certain that Viz will release the L film. After which we will get a three pack at a discounted price. That's what I'm waiting for. But if you've got the cash. Go ahead and spend it!

Revenge of Jason, New Star Trek Featurette, and Chaka Revealed!

First up, check out this photo of Chaka from the new Land of the Lost film. I think it
looks alright. I want a trailer though. I always want a trailer.

On another note e-surance has some kind of deal with paramount as their site has an exclusive featurette on the site. Not any new footage, but still neat. Check it out here.

Also Bay has revealed that the super bowl teaser for Tformers: Revenge of the Fallen will air during the 3rd quarter. It is also revealed that it will be online shortly thereafter. Then he went on to piss me off by saying the full trailer is attached to Friday the 13th, and a week later will be online. Gawd. However on Feb 6th the video game trailer is released so hopefully that appeases me.

G.I. Joe Character IDs, and.....DR. MINDBENDER!?

Yep. Here is Dr. Mindbender, or The Doctor as he is called in the
sommers-verse
Photobucket
This is pretty unexpected and cool. I always liked Mindbender
even if the sonofabitch dethroned one of my favorite 80s villains.

The rest of the cards can be found here.

REVEALED THE TWINS!!!!!

Specifically the twins from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Photobucket

Skids is the green one, and Mudflap (I think) is the orange one.
Overall I like the designs, remind me of Cybertron Crumplezone.
I do question the faces, but something tells me they look goofy
because the characters themselves will be such. It looks like a lot
of this news is hitting this weekend. Prepare yourselves, it will be
glorious. It's interesting that we're getting "twin" characters. Though
no one is sure what relationships such as these are there are plenty of
"Brothers" in the TF series.
In G1 the Autobots Sideswipe/Sunstreaker
RiD Had the Autobot Brothers Prowl/Sideburn/X-Brawn
Animated as the Jet Twins Jetstorm and Jetfire.
And at the end of the film Prime called Megs brother...though this could
possibly just be that they were brothers of the same family that is all of
Cybertron. Who knows?

By The Power of Grey Skull, WE HAVE A DIRECTOR!!!!

Variety has confirmed Latino Review's scoop that Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver have set Kung Fu Panda co-director John Stevenson to make his live action directing debut on Masters of the Universe, a re-imagining of the signature Mattel toy line.

He-Man is a brawny prince who transforms into a warrior who becomes the last hope for a magical land called Eternia, which is being ravaged by technology and the evil Skeletor.

Silver is producing through his Silver Pictures and Mattel's Barry Waldo will be executive producer.

WB acquired the property in 2007, and Justin Marks wrote the first draft of the script based on a story he wrote with Neil Ellice.

The Mattel property became iconic by way of the 1980s cartoon series "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe," and the property was previously turned into a 1987 film starring Dolph Lungdren as He-Man and Frost/Nixon star Frank Langella as the villainous Skeletor.

Stevenson said he made up his mind when he went to Mattel headquarters and was shown into a secret lair that contained the visuals created by the toymaker staff.

"There was this locked bunker that you had to be escorted into," Stevenson said. "It was filled with art, some generated by the Mattel artists, and I looked around, and said, 'I get it.' We started formulating a specific vision for costumes, creatures, architecture, and the creation of a mythology and look for a whole world we'll create."

Never a big fan of this, liked the 02' reboot. Just because it had better story telling. I'll watch this no doubt.

UK TOY FAIR NEWS

The UK Toy Fair 2009 kicked off today, and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was represented in rare style. Hisstank and 2005 Boards Member streetfield1 was in attendance and has shared a huge wealth of information with meh.

- Devastator will be around about 2 feet tall and built like a gorilla.
- The Human Alliance Bumblebee that we have been seeing recently will be the first release in his range.
- No toys of the Fallen at present.
- There will be new Robot Replicas of Ironhide, Ratchet and Starscream.
- More information on the RPM - Robot Powered Machines - line. The cars are "Hot Wheels style" and are mainly Autobots, with their robot modes embossed on the bottom. The racetrack has tracks all over the place, and instead of the central "mountain" you sometimes see on these tracks, you've got Devastator!
- There will be a radio controlled Optimus Prime truck with Peter Cullen soundclips.
- The tank mode Megatron toy (which version is not specified) was on display, although nobody was available to comment on whether or not he is in the film.

Some footage, featuring animatics, was also shown. If you do not want to be spoiled, look away now!

- Devastator is... devastating! The mixing drum in his chest becomes a massive turbine grinder. It creates a turbine effect, sucking everything in Devastator's path up, and spitting it out of his back.
- Wheelie is effectively confirmed as a remote controlled car, in line with other rumors we have heard recently.
- Legions of Decepticon drones, resembling Frenzy, will cause carnage in the Witwicky household.
- Sam fights for his life on top of a car against Pretender Alice.
- Captain Lennox also gets to see some serious action against the Decepticons, with full helicopter backup.

Alright....firstly THE DEVASTATOR TOY WILL BE AMAZING. COME ON INCOME TAX REFUND DADDY NEEDS A NEW COMBINER! Also...I like the weapon idea for him. LOLZ at Wheelie being brought back. I think Bay is bringing back almost everything we hated about the franchise (Wheelie and Pretenders). Admittedly both of these concepts are handled better in Headmasters. Wheelie isn't as annoying and the Pretenders in Super God Masterforce are cool. I'm lookin' at you Gilmer! Legions of Decepticon Drones? Guess that's the 40 robot fight. It's the same damn robots over and over again. Lame. I can't wait for some pics. No Fallen toys. BECAUSE MEGS IS THE FALLEN.

Let me rant about that. Bay says Meg's new tank mode is just a toy. They also claimed that the Fallen is a separate character. Well I think Megatron is possessed
by the Fallen. The toy will be sold as Megatron because they need to keep the copyright up. If he is possessed it still means it's a separate character. And I think that's what the Fallen is doing in Defiance Issue #1. Which is awesome.
Okay, enjoy your night.

Universe Leo Prime

To be honest I was never impressed with this toy
I wasn't planning on buying it. Though I want
Leo Breaker and Nemesis Breaker. However looking at
the Prime-esque color scheme and the new head mold
I'm rethinking it. Here's a review video by peaugh.

Perhaps, perhaps.

Fox to be Treading Dawn

Variety and The L.A. Times are reporting that 20th Century Fox has picked up the option to co-finance Walden Media's The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader just a month after Disney decided to pass on helping to finance the third film in the series. Budgeting and script issues are being worked out although there's hope that the film will start shooting at the end of summer for a planned holiday 2010 release through the Fox Walden label.

Fox and Walden will split the production and P&A costs for "Dawn Treader," which is projected to have a $140 million budget, down from the $215 million spent on last year's The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. "Caspian" grossed $419 million worldwide, compared to the $745 million earned by its predecessor "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe."

As planned, the third film will be directed by Michael Apted with Mark Johnson and original director Andrew Adamson co-producing. Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley will be returning as Prince Caspian, Edmund and Lucy while Will Poulter from Garth Jennings' Son of Rambow will play Eustace Clarence Scrubb.

Well huzzah and whatnot. I rather enjoy the Narnia films even if the 2nd one was a bit weak. Here's to better days for the franchise.

"The ARC-170 Starfighter, heavily used by the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars, was a starfighter/bomber that served as the technological ancestor of Incom's X-Wing Fighter, later used by the Rebel Alliance. This iconic ship of the Clone Wars is recreated for the Star Wars action figure line. In scale with the 3 3/4" figures, this ship is what you need to take the war to the Separatists and Count Dooku! "

Scheduled to ship this May priced at $74.99.

New Watchmen Poster and TF Universe Musings

Here is the new and final Watchmen Poster.
Woot. What do I think? I think it looks pretty swell. Displays
the characters, and I generally like the look of it. Though
personally I prefer the one of the Comedian falling out of the
window.

There was a post on TFW2005.com talking about what would
be your top 5 characters you'd want to be made into figures.
So my top 10 are as follows ----

Photobucket
10. A Combiner, one made specifically for Universe

Photobucket
9. Trypticon, just cause. Could make for a neat Voyager.

Photobucket
8. Beast Machines Obsidian, awesome character, needs a more toon accurate mold

Photobucket
7. Sixshot, again, cool character. I'd like to see this be something other than the G1 brick former.

Photobucket
6. Soundwave, ...come on it's Soundwave

Photobucket
5. G1 Arcee, we never got her. Come on Hasbro, think of the repaint potential.

Photobucket
4. Sunstorm, Reuse that seeker mold one more time

Photobucket
3. Wheeljack, Wheeljack was awesome in the cartoon, and I like his alt mode

Photobucket
2. Shockwave, never too many Shockwave toys
aaaannd finally

Photobucket
1. Jazz, because if you're gonna make something, make something with a little
style.

OOoooh, Official Images of ROTF Preview Wave Featuring Soundwave and Bumblebee

Original Article w/ pics here

Sweet Jesus Look at that. We all know that the real
toys will look nowhere near as good as that. Especially
since I've seen pics of the toys elsewhere. I do think,
however that I'll be picking both of these up. The Soundwave
for my MUST COLLECT ALL NEW FORMS OF CHARACTERS
APPEARING IN THE MEDIA habit. Bumblebee I'll pick up
just to open since the first film Bumblebee toys were a rarity
in my area, so I just left them in package. Plus this one has a better
head sculpt/cannon, but I'll probably leave the missle in storage.
Soundwave looks pretty neat. That's how he appeared in Alliance
#2, sort of. So I dunno if he'll be like this in the movie at all or not.
Regardless. These will be nice toys to own. Especially if you are a
Soundwave-fag like I am.
